The dream of Pagoda Ridge started in 1979 when a local man by the name of Lyall Brown bought the 165-acre property. In 1982 Lyall decided to build a golf course on his newly acquired property and in 1992 he was given permission to build. Lyall was a very handy with all sorts of heavy machinery and he cleared the heavily forested property himself. Browns goal was to build a course like no other and he used his love for Asian architecture to inspire the theme of the course. Once the property was finished being prepared by Lyall he worked with golf course architect Terry Woodford on final layout. The course opened in 2012 on Lyall’s 80th birthday and Pagoda Ridge is still owned and ran by the Brown family today.
