Finding the First Malayalee Nurse | The Basildon Story

A journey into the untold story of Malayalee nurses who made Basildon their home. This documentary traces the beginnings of the Malayalee nursing community in Basildon — from the arrival of the first nurses to the generations that followed, building careers, families and a thriving community in Essex. Through personal memories and interviews, we look back at the challenges, sacrifices, friendships and milestones that shaped this remarkable chapter of our community’s history. This is more than a story about nursing and migration. It is a story of courage, belonging and the legacy created by those who came before us. 🎬 A Film by — Nobin Kalayil Babu 🎥 Director of Photography & Editor — Joji Joseph 🎙 Narration — Praveen Antony 🔎 Research — Nobin Kalayil Babu 🏥 Hospital Filming Permission & Coordination — Shiny Basil 🎞 Produced by — INUK Media Our sincere thanks to Basildon University Hospital, its Communications & Media Team, Chief Executive Team, Governors, Security Team, Sister Hollie and the Discharge Lounge staff for their support and cooperation.
