A ferocious early-season Arctic blizzard slammed across the Colorado Front Range, the Interstate 70 corridor, and high Continental Divide passes between October 13 and 15, 2026, dumping two to three feet (24 to 36+ inches) of dense, heavy snow and triggering emergency highway closures. The high-country travel network experienced catastrophic gridlock along Interstate 70, where commercial semi-trucks spun out and jackknifed along icy inclines near Morrison, Georgetown, and the Eisenhower Tunnel. Over Loveland Pass (elevation 11,990 ft), 80-mph howling winds generated impassable whiteout conditions, forcing total road shutdowns. To the south along the Palmer Divide, blizzard conditions shut down Interstate 25 across Monument Hill, where emergency crews worked through sub-zero wind chills to clear stranded freight and assist stranded motorists. In the valleys and metropolitan corridors, heavy wet snow clung to trees that had not yet shed their autumn leaves, snapping major limbs across Boulder, Denver, and Colorado Springs and damaging local electrical infrastructure. Heavy municipal snowplows and emergency tow rotators worked around the clock to clear critical lanes. Remarkably, emergency management officials confirmed zero storm-related fatalities. #Colorado #Blizzard #Snowstorm #I70 #Denver #MonumentHill #LovelandPass #Boulder #WinterStorm #Rockies #InternationalWeatherNetwork
