One Person’s Trash…

It’s Acquisitions Day in my little 55+ community in Santa Barbara — four times a year, we put out the stuff we’re finished with so it can be hauled away to the dump. Except sometimes… it doesn’t quite make it to the dump. 😂 Somewhere along the way, I turned our quarterly Bulk Waste Dump Day into my own little treasure hunt around the neighborhood: Acquisitions Day. This time, a few things caught my eye and came home to GG Poppy — and apparently two of my “garden” finds had other ideas and made it all the way inside. 😂 I’ve developed rules for this. Well, guidelines. Okay… perhaps they’re more what you’d call suggestions. Part of what I love about permaculture is learning to notice what’s already available. Before something becomes waste, might there still be another use for it? Another yield? Another life? Could it solve a problem, become something unexpected — or simply make me giggle? Of course, just because something is groovy doesn’t mean it needs to become my groovy. That discernment part is still… emerging. 😂 So come see what I rescued before the dump truck arrived, what might become garden treasure, and what somehow earned a place inside Poppy. And yes… I climbed into the Little Tikes wagon. The hummingbirds were my only witnesses.
