LPG Crisis & Retailers Strike in Lahore: Soaring Prices Force Citizens to Coal & Wood

LPG Crisis & Retailers Strike in Lahore: Soaring Prices Force Citizens to Coal & Wood In this ground report from Lahore for Express News, correspondent Talib Freedi investigates the acute Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) crisis and retail shutdown affecting domestic consumers across the city. As prices surged up to Rs. 570–600 per kilogram—far exceeding OGRA's official notified rates—LPG shopkeepers and distributors launched a strike, shutting down retail outlets across major markets like Sherpao Bridge and Gulberg. Retailers cite harassment, heavy fines, and equipment confiscation by the Punjab Enforcement and Regulatory Authority (PERA) and Civil Defence officers as the main drivers for the shutdown. With natural gas supply disruptions and unavailable LPG, citizens across Lahore are forced to rely on firewood and coal to meet daily cooking needs. Key Highlights: Widespread LPG Retail Strike: Shopkeepers across Lahore close operations to protest against plant cartels, high wholesale rates, and administrative raids. Retailer Complaints Against PERA & Civil Defence: Shopkeepers report heavy fines and equipment seizures valued at tens of thousands of rupees. Shift to Coal and Firewood: Desperate citizens turn to alternative fuels like coal and firewood as a backup for domestic cooking. #LPGShortage #TalibFreedi #ExpressNews #LahoreNews #LPGStrike #EnergyCrisis #PERARaids #CivilDefence #ExpressNewsVlogsStay connected with Pakistan’s leading news network for verified updates, real-time breaking alerts, and comprehensive analysis. ■ OFFICIAL LINKS • Web Portal: https://www.express.pk/ • WhatsApp Community: https://whatsapp.com/channel/0029VaDU... ■ SOCIAL MEDIA • X / Twitter:   / expressnewspk   • Facebook:   / expressnewspk   • Instagram:   / expressnewspk   • TikTok:   / expressnews_pk   ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ #ExpressNews #PakistanNews #BreakingNews
