Hop on board for a front window cab ride aboard the Lausanne Metro Line M1, operating between Renens VD and Lausanne-Flon in Switzerland. In this video, we ride the full length of the M1. The line serves the Lausanne region’s universities, residential districts, and business areas, and operates as a hybrid between a tramway and a metro-style light rail system. Departing from Renens VD, the route quickly transitions from dense urban surroundings into a mix of reserved right-of-way and street-level sections, before gradually descending toward Lausanne through a series of stops serving key educational and commuter corridors, including the UNIL and EPFL campuses. The final approach into Lausanne-Flon is fully urban, with tighter curves, frequent stops, and increasing street integration before terminating in the underground-style city-center station.
