After completing KCSE with a D+, university seemed out of reach. With limited opportunities and financial challenges, Phoebe moved to Nairobi and started working as a househelp in Eastlands. But she refused to let her KCSE results define her future. While working, she enrolled for an Accounting Technicians Certificate (ATC), later pursued CPA, and eventually earned a Bachelor of Commerce in Finance with honours and a Master's degree in Finance. Her breakthrough came when she secured a short-term opportunity with a Kenyan bank working on an IPO. Her hard work and ability to learn quickly opened the door to a permanent role. From there, she continued growing within the banking industry until her expertise caught the attention of an international bank. Today, Phoebe is a senior investment professional managing investment portfolios across the African region. Her story is a powerful reminder: Your starting point is not your destination.
