*Jeanne Weddle: A Life Full of Laughter | A Memorial in Home Movies*
When I was ten years old, I met my half-sister Jeanne for the first time. She was 24, full of life, and one of the funniest people I have ever known.
Jeanne Weddle was a natural storyteller with an extraordinary gift for turning life's most unexpected, awkward, and even terrifying moments into hilarious tales. She loved silent comedy, embraced the absurd, and brought that same irrepressible spirit to everything she did. She even starred in the silent comedies I made as a kid, displaying a gift for physical comedy that would have made her a worthy rival to Mabel Normand.
From outrageous family adventures to unforgettable real-life escapades, Jeanne had a way of making every story funnier with each retelling. She was also part of the family history that inspired my work in television, including Battlestar Galactica and *The Strain*.
After Jeanne suffered a devastating stroke, I visited her one last time and asked her to tell me one of our favorite stories. Even then, her wicked sense of humor was still there.
I miss my big sister terribly. This video, created for her memorial, brings together our family home movies to celebrate the remarkable woman she was: funny, fearless, unpredictable, and impossible to forget.
I hope these films give you a glimpse of the force of nature that was Jeanne Weddle — and remind you of the people in your own life whose laughter stays with you long after they're gone.
*Rest in peace, Jeanne. Thank you for all the laughter.*
