Simpler MIDI now works as a MIDI looper. Your keys play the instrument directly while the loop plays in time with Live. Record a loop, overdub onto it, or replace it as it comes round. Undo and Redo step back through each pass, even while you’re still recording. Hold. Records only while the button is held down, for quick punch-ins. Swing. A new knob next to Quantize, from a light shuffle to past triplet swing. Chop. In Manual slice mode, play the clip and tap a key wherever you want a new slice, like chopping on an MPC. End replaces Length. The end of the play range is now a position in the clip, just like Start. Mapped buttons work on one press. Rec, Stop, Load, Clear and Undo/Redo used to need two presses on a controller. Now they need one. _________________________________________ Simpler MIDI is a Max for Live device that works like Ableton’s Simpler, but it plays MIDI clips instead of audio. Drag in a clip from your Set or drop in a .mid file, then play it from your keyboard. Each key plays the clip transposed. Switch to Slice mode and every key gets its own slice. Load it any way you like Drop a .mid file onto the device, load a clip from your Set, or record a take straight into it. Every sequence goes into a list saved with your Set, so you can step back to earlier ones with ◀ ▶. Play it like a sample Set Start, End and a loop by dragging in the display. Loop forward, reverse, ping-pong, or play the clip once. Trigger or Gate playback, plus Legato modes (Retrigger, Hold, Trill). Scale Aware playback keeps every note in Live’s scale. Tempo sync, or set your own speed. Slice mode Slice by transient, by beat, into equal regions, or place the slices yourself. Chop: play the clip and tap keys to make slices as it plays. Transpose each slice on its own, and audition slices with the cursor. Record and loop Record MIDI into the device with Quantize and Swing. Loop Record turns it into a MIDI looper, with overdub, replace, undo and redo for every pass, Hold for punch-ins, and pause and play. The included Simpler MIDI Listener lets you record from another track. Modulate it An LFO and an envelope, each able to move up to eight destinations: pitch, start (scrub), loop position, tempo, transpose, pan and more.
