Hello fellow romantics and dreamers, Welcome to The Villa at Cap Ferrat - a sunlit escape to the French Riviera in 1967, with an hour of Bossa Nova and vintage Lounge Music. For this compilation, I wanted to capture the quieter and more private side of the Côte d’Azur. Imagine a beautiful white villa high above the Mediterranean, the swimming pool catching the afternoon sun, a yacht sitting far below in the bay, and nothing but blue sky and sea stretching out in front of you. Cap Ferrat has long had a reputation for discreet Riviera glamour. From the late 19th and early 20th centuries, wealthy visitors began building grand homes and villas there, and by the 1950s and 60s it had become a favourite retreat for artists, actors and international society. It offered something a little quieter and more secluded than places such as Cannes and Monaco, which is exactly the feeling I wanted to try and capture here. (One day I'll get myself and my family out there 😊✈) Musically, the compilation moves through warm, sophisticated Bossa Nova, Lounge and easy listening, with lovely rhythms and that relaxed 1960s Riviera feel. A couple of the tracks have a slightly more mysterious mood to them, which I felt added a nice little change of atmosphere without taking things too far away from the overall feel of the album.
