multipass tubular heater (also known as a multipass shell-and-tube heat exchanger/heater) is widely used in chemical, pharmaceutical, and food processing industries to heat fluids efficiently. Compared to a single-pass heater, a multipass arrangement forces the fluid in the tubes to travel back and forth through the unit multiple times, increasing fluid velocity, heat transfer rate, and overall thermal efficiency within a compact footprint. Flow Pattern: Tube-side Fluid: Passes through a fraction of the total tubes at a time. Internal baffles in the channel covers (heads) redirect the fluid flow back and forth across the heater length multiple times (e.g., 2-pass, 4-pass, 6-pass). Shell-side Fluid (or Steam): Surrounds the outside of the tubes.
