The Mid Atlantic: A film documentary tracing the movements of animals across key stops within the Atlantic ocean in Cape Verde and the Azores, and the modern day impacts on their lives.
Whales, migratory pelagic fish and ships moving across the Atlantic ocean often cross both Cape Verde and The Azores, which have served as important migratory stops for the various species. This mini documentary, filmed over a season in various locations, followed migratory whales as they began their springtime northbound migrations moving from breeding areas in Cape Verde towards their springtime resting stop in The Azores, to find out more about their behaviors and reasons for stopping over in certain areas of the Atlantic. With calmer weather and warmer sea temperatures bringing more ships as well as the mysterious mobula rays to this part of the Atlantic, this window of opportunity for travel presents not just a chance for the various species to begin their migration, but also brings challenges.
This video is the first of a new series covering various aspects of the Atlantic, from modern history to ecology, as well as the impacts climate and coastal change has on lives of the various species including people. While not a full scientific documentary, this series aims to present instead up close the various individuals, organizations and their efforts, towards preserving the health of our oceans, and provide an opportunity for latest research work to be presented to a wider audience.
These expeditions are self-funded with the sole aim of inspiring and educating others, to take action and participate in citizen science, conservation efforts or responsible tourism, and viewers are welcomed to visit the website of providers, associations or NGOs in the credits.

Cape Verde actually consists of ten islands, not just eight. (3:47 mins).
The Santa Maria Manuela was built in the 1930s in 1937, and not the 1910s, in a record time of just 62 days. (7:10 mins)
