Tina Turner - Breaks Barriers

Tina Turner broke through many barriers in pursuit of her dreams. She has humbly said that overcoming challenges was due to 'simply living my life.' In the Introduction clip Tina says that her young country girl 'common sense' showed her that 'power can be dangerous.' Tina grew up in the South's dangerous pre-civil rights act Jim Crow period. She found cracks in the systems to get through the barriers; such as, proving her talent time and time again by performing in small venues across the U.S.to directly build public support, and going to England and Europe when they recognized and rewarded her talent. She led by example and touched millions of lives. Driven by her dreams she was like a river affronting obstacles. She saw them as they were and found a way to always go forward. It was her work ethic, talent, persistence, determination, passion, and endurance that fueled her success. And she did it respectfully with integrity, decency and love.
