10 - More Reasons to Love Broken Shaman (Official Visualizer)

“More Reasons to Love Broken Shaman” by Broken Shaman, tenth track from Golden Hour Broadcast. Ten tracks in. He finally decides to advertise. Badly. “More Reasons to Love Broken Shaman” is the moment Golden Hour Broadcast loosens its collar and lets the Shaman have some fun with his own mythology. After an album filled with neighborhoods, cassettes, family tables, low riders and disappearing summers, Track 10 turns the microphone directly toward the man responsible for the broadcast. The result is not a victory lap. It's closer to a deeply unreliable commercial. Broken Shaman lists his qualifications with the confidence of somebody who should absolutely not be allowed to write his own promotional material: too many records, questionable decisions, terrible timing, excellent taste in drums, an unhealthy relationship with bass frequencies and apparently enough surviving charisma to keep getting away with all of it. The production plays along. Classic hip-hop swagger meets dusty soul, oversized drums and a groove built for head-nods rather than reverence. There is humor in the delivery, but never parody. Broken Shaman understands the tradition he's playing with — the beautiful hip-hop art of announcing that you are unquestionably the greatest person currently holding the microphone and presenting absolutely no independent evidence. But beneath the flex is something unexpectedly affectionate. Because after all the darkness of the Broken Shaman catalogue — the corrupted transmissions, psychological wreckage, industrial violence and apocalyptic visions — Golden Hour Broadcast has revealed another part of him. The guy who remembers. The guy who still loves the break. The guy who knows exactly what a scratched cassette, a basketball court and a ridiculous bassline can do to a human being. Reason enough? Probably. But he's got more.
