The Eternal Sleep | DARK GOTHIC SYMPHONIC METAL | Sanguine Versatus

There are albums that document what we are. This one documents how we got here. Not all of us agreed to be documented. Some of what you will find on this record was offered freely. Some of it I placed here knowing the person it belongs to would not thank me for it, and that they would recognize themselves anyway, and that recognition is sometimes the only honest thing left to give someone. Fear is not a song I wrote. I include that detail without further comment. Bloodstained belongs to Carmilla in a way she has never fully explained to the rest of us and we have never fully asked. She ran toward the sound. She always runs toward the sound. That is either her greatest quality or the thing that cost her everything depending on which night you ask and how the light is sitting. The answer has never been the same twice. Empty Promises and When He Feeds on Me are Athanasia's tracks and I will say nothing about them here except that they exist, that they are true, and that the woman who sings them chose to sing them rather than bury them, which tells you more about who she is than anything I could write in this space. Symphony of Bones, The Eternal Sleep, Bringers of Death. We have attended all three. The Monsters is the question the album keeps asking. By track thirteen you should have enough information to answer it yourself. The night is ours. As it has always been. As it will always be.
