W126 OM606 swap: wiring time

W126 MB 300SDL OM606 swap! This episode I will be working on the wiring for the swap, currently I had to start the engine by using a jumper wire from the starter to the starter solenoid. When trying to start the vehicle with the key it would not crank over, so I had to do some investigating into the wiring diagram and found that there is a neutral safety switch that was preventing me from starting the motor. Since I went from a automatic transmission to 6 speed manual (GS6-37DZ) I was no longer needing a NSS so I just connected the wire coming into and out of the NSS and bingo we got it to start. Next, I had to confirm my wiring job for the alternator was working properly. I went from a OM603 alternator to the OM606. I wanted the OM606 alternator since it has a larger amp output than the OM603 alternator. Easy to confirm that it was hooked up properly by checking the battery voltage when the engine was running (13-14v means it’s charging). Last thing that I had to wire up was the glow plug relay harness. Without this relay, I had to use Cosby sauce in order to start the engine, but once the wiring for the glow plug really harness is completed, I am able to start the vehicle with no Cosby sauce. Pretty easy to confirm if this is hooked up or not by cycling the key in the run start position and checking if the glow plug light comes on and if it’s easier to start the vehicle.  I also tried to wire in the coolant temperature gauge on the odometer, but was unsuccessful in doing so. I went to check to see if the coolant temperature gauge was rising as the engine was warming up, but it was not the reason for this is because I tried to use a two wire temperature probe originally the wiring was for one wire temperature probe. Easy fix for this would be to swap from a two wire temp probe to a one wire temp probe.
