District One of FIND Inc's Kamayan 2019 at Boston University’s Tsai Auditorium NU Barkada - Sakuting Sakuting is a Philippine folk dance that interprets between Ilocano Christians and non-Christians. Sakuting comes from the Abra province in the northern part of the island of Luzon. Sakuting incorpo-rates the traditional Filipino martial arts called Arnis by using two sticks as extensions of the arms to fight the opponent. The Spanish banned its practice, forcing FIlipinos to utilize it in other forms. They retained this practice by using Arnis movements as part of the dances. These mock fight sequences revived the use of Arnis as a dance and are actually two-stick Arnis exercise set to an upbeat music.
