Beginner Guitar Lesson 2: Learn 2 Chords & Start Playing!

You made it through Lesson 1—now let’s start playing! Welcome to Lesson 2 of Guitar From Scratch with Bill, my step-by-step beginner guitar course designed for people who are starting from the very beginning. In this lesson, we'll build on what you learned in Lesson 1 by adding another chord and, most importantly, beginning to switch between chords smoothly. You don't need to be fast, and you don't need to be perfect. We're building muscle memory one small step at a time. In Lesson 2, we'll work on: Reviewing what we learned in Lesson 1 Learning your next guitar chord Proper finger placement Switching from one chord to another Simple down-strumming Developing clean, clear chord sounds A short practice routine you can use every day My philosophy is simple: 10 minutes a day can make a difference. Don't worry about how quickly someone else learns. Pick up your guitar, practice a little every day, and enjoy the process. MY GUITAR STRINGS: I use D'Addario light-gauge acoustic guitar strings. I like light strings because they're comfortable to play and especially friendly for beginners who are still developing finger strength.
