Mapping out Namsan’s Secret Southern Sector

Introducing [Namsan Fortress Wall Trail] We are back with another walk through Seoul, but this one is a bit of a leg-burner. Today, we’re tackling a piece of the historic Seoul City Wall Trail, starting from Jangchung Gymnasium and heading past the clean, 5-star lifestyle of the Banyan Tree Hotel. Once we leave the clean streets behind, the real warm-up ends, and the incline begins. This trail is all about the contrast. You’ll be walking directly alongside massive stone walls that have stood for over 600 years, right next to towering modern skyscrapers. But to get the best views, you have to earn them. We take a detour off the main path to face an endless, steep climb up the stairs. It’s a heart-pumping, sweat-inducing trek, but the reward makes you forget the burn completely. Halfway up, the crowds disappear, and it gets incredibly peaceful. Turn around, and you're treated to an elevated perspective of the Shilla Hotel and the city below. Keep climbing, and you’ll unlock a secret lookout point with breathtaking, panoramic views stretching all the way west to the Han River bridges and the Lotte World Tower. 🗺️ ACCESS THE FULL SCOUT MAP: Get my exact walking routes, transit exits, and photography pin locations on my landing page! 👉 Link: https://insta.openinapp.co/seoulscout 📍 Start Location: Jangchung Gymnasium (장충체육관앞) https://naver.me/Gmpg2r4b 🚇 Transit: Take Subway Line 3 to Dongdaemun History Museum Station (Exit 5) or Take Buses 144, 301, 7212, 6702 and stop at Jangchung Gymnasium (장충체육관앞) Chapters: 0:00 Intro 1:40 Begin Walk 5:47 Transition to Inner Wall 8:24 View Stop 8:57 End of Section 1 & Pavilion Stop 10:16 Banyan Tree Hotel Rest 12:20 Leaving Hotel & Change of Scenery 13:03 Foot of Mountain 15:06 Taking the Alternate Route 16:27 The Stair Climb 16:55 Wall Is Intimidating 17:36 Noticing The Rise In Elevation 18:01 Final Push 19:15 The Reveal 20:58 Teaser
