Form 6 Controversy Explained: Supreme Court vs Election Commissionl | Vajiram and Ravi

For Course queries, click here: https://forms.gle/4uMBphC4to4EoiZh6 What exactly happened with Form 6, the Election Commission of India (ECI) and the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls? Form 6 is the statutory application used by a new voter to seek inclusion in the electoral roll. But during SIR, an additional declaration linked to previous electoral rolls appeared alongside the online Form 6 process—raising questions about whether a statutory voter-registration form had effectively been modified without following the prescribed legal procedure. Then came the Supreme Court. On October 5, 2026, Chief Justice of India Surya Kant clarified that the Supreme Court had not approved any modified Form 6. The Court also indicated that it would examine the Election Commission's records to determine who modified what and whether the decisions concerning SIR were taken according to the legally prescribed decision-making process.
