Hamirpur Ka Khana | Roots & Recipes | Featuring Sunny Dogra (Mowgli) & Veena Dogra
In this episode of Roots & Recipes we travel to Hamirpur to explore the traditional food and flavours of the district with Sunny Dogra aka Mowgli and his mother Veena Dogra from the popular Instagram page Feeling Himalayas.
Known for their humorous videos and satirical take on everyday life with meaningful messages, Sunny and his mother welcomed us into their kitchen and prepared some traditional Himachali delicacies.
We started with Aenkliyan which is made from rice flour and is traditionally prepared around Diwali in Hamirpur and Bilaspur. Served with urad ki dal and topped with desi ghee this meal brought back the beautiful festive feeling of Diwali.
Next was Arbi Ki Bediyan where boiled arbi is stuffed into makki ka atta and shaped into rotis. Served with homemade butter and chai it brought back some wonderful childhood memories. We also enjoyed Seera made with wheat which added another traditional flavour to the experience.
Beyond food we also spoke about Sunny and his mother's content creation journey and some interesting moments along the way. Sunny shared how Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh once suggested that his team feature the mother-son duo in a promotional video for Superyou.
It was an episode filled with food nostalgia family memories laughter and stories that connect us to our roots.
Join us as we celebrate the traditional food culture of Hamirpur through its recipes and the people who keep these traditions alive.
This is Roots & Recipes. This is Hamirpur Ka Khana! Happy Diwali to all of you.
