Living in Russia at −40°C — this is what everyday life really looks like in the world's largest country.
What is everyday life like in Russia, where winter temperatures in some regions can fall to −40°C?
In this cinematic travel documentary, we journey across the world's largest country to explore its remarkable landscapes, historic cities, cultural traditions, and the everyday routines that help people adapt to winter.
From the grand underground stations of Moscow to the wooden architecture of Suzdal and Kizhi, we discover a Russia shaped by history, craftsmanship, and changing seasons.
In St. Petersburg, frozen canals and the stories of the Hermitage reveal another side of Russian life. We then explore the traditions of the dacha, the Russian banya, and the warm kitchens that become important gathering places during colder months.
Our journey continues from Kazan's cultural landmarks to Murmansk, north of the Arctic Circle, where the polar night transforms the winter sky. Finally, we travel east to Lake Baikal, known for its extraordinary depth and winter ice, before reaching Vladivostok on Russia's Pacific coast.
Russia is far too vast to be understood through one city, one climate, or one story. This documentary offers a cinematic look at its diverse regions, architecture, landscapes, and ways of life.
