The Royal Landing @ Carrickfergus - Luna's Early Morning Walk 2026

This is by far the farthest I've ever travelled to attend a band parade. To make sure we didn't miss a thing, we arrived in Carrickfergus the night before and spent the night car camping near the Holiday Inn, ready for an early start to what would be a very special day. The Royal Landing is unlike any other parade I've attended. The town comes alive with a wide range of attractions, including brass bands, the thunderous sound of Lambeg drums, historical re-enactments, vintage military vehicles, and of course the band parades themselves. But the true centrepiece of the event is the arrival of King William of Orange, who lands at the historic Carrickfergus Harbour beside the impressive Norman Castle, recreating an important moment in local history. Before all the excitement begins, however, Luna has an important job to do... her morning walk! In this first video from our Royal Landing adventure, Luna and I take a relaxing stroll through the marina and make our way to the stony shoreline on the far side of the harbour, soaking in the peaceful atmosphere before the celebrations get underway.
