Brian Rawlings, Workstand's Senior Business Development Executive, speaks with Jesse Hull of Bentonville Bicycle Company about the town and their stores. The business began as Spoke, a small shop built from shipping containers near Bentonville’s trails, and later grew to include two locations, with a third gravel-focused shop planned across the Missouri border. They discuss how the company’s locations serve different riders. Its original shop focuses heavily on mountain biking, while the Walmart campus location carries more road and gravel bikes. Hull describes the company’s brand selection, including Pivot, Yeti, Cervélo, Norco, Marin, and Giant, and explains that the shops aim to offer a considered range rather than carry every brand. Hull reflects on how trails and greenways have changed Northwest Arkansas. He describes their role in improving local transportation and quality of life, and notes the region’s broader growth in outdoor recreation, business, the arts, and healthcare. Brian and Jesse also discuss the company’s recently launched Workstand website. Hull says it has already brought in bike purchases from customers traveling to Bentonville, who collect their bikes in person. He describes online sales as a way to connect with new customers as well as generate revenue. Hull talks about the shops’ customer-service culture, staff, and leadership. He emphasizes supporting women riders, carrying women’s apparel, and helping customers find the right solution—even when that means directing them to another shop. Looking ahead, Hull says the company will be selective about adding locations and brands. He wants to preserve the shops’ culture, keep the business enjoyable and profitable, and continue supporting cycling in the region.
