"Tactical Abomination 68"
Umarex HDP 50 turned into a magazine fed .68 caliber paintball marker.
In this video I'll be doing some minimal functionality testing. It seems to work as intended. Ended up being a very compact and lightweight setup due to the aluminium, potmetal and plastic construction.
I keep struggling with the camera. The first take didn't record at all and I had some trouble inserting magazines one-handed.. You'll see why you should always tap the bottom of the magazine to make sure it's fully latched🤣
The 10ci tank still had over 2000 PSI left so I guess it would've managed a couple more magazines after all. As I got distracted, I totally forgot to continue with it😁
A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THE MARKER
Main components used for the marker itself:
Valken M17 SMG magwell
Tippmann TiPX barrel adapter (breech block)
Tippmann TiPX magazines
Tippmann A5 barrel
Bolts, nuts, PVC and metal epoxy
The HDP was chopped up to fit the magwell and breech in place, attached with bolts and nuts using some MacGyver style connection points...
The top cover is made of PVC pipe.
As for the switch, it could be made in various ways but here's what I did:
Made a small piece of metal, sized about 9mm x 4mm x 3mm if I remember correctly.
Drilled a hole in it for an axle
Glued pieces of sheet metal on both sides on the outside of the metal body
Used JB Weld to smoothen out the empty gaps on the inside of the metal body, essentially making a slot for the small metal piece to slide in between
Used JB Weld to make a small ledge underneath the spot where the small metal piece can lean on without tilting down
Carved slots on the sides of the body for the axle to slide in
Carved corresponding slots on the outer plastic body
Dremeled the plastic body surface flat around the slots
Used thumb nuts on both sides outside the plastic body to tighten the axle in place
Now, when the axle is in the rear position, the small metal piece doesn't do anything as it's just sitting underneath the sear.
When the axle slides forwards, it pushes the small metal piece between the trigger and the sear. That forces the sear to fully let go of the bolt while the trigger is being pulled.
