Cordoba is the 4th movement of Chants d’Espagne op.232 that Isaac Albéniz wrote around 1897-1898. It is fascinating how the composer managed to synthesize the two cultures that for centuries have coexisted in Andalusia, especially in the city of Cordoba, also known as the western La Mecca. Spanish folklore, heavily influenced by flamenco, and the Arab culture are masterfully blended.
