Shirati KMT Hospital: Hope and Power

This short video looks at the challenges facing Shirati KMT Hospital, the people working tirelessly to overcome them, and the search for practical, sustainable solutions to keep the lights on, support healthcare workers, and save lives. During our visit to Shirati KMT Hospital in Tanzania, the Soul-Fixin Foundation returned to see how previously donated equipment—including solar power systems and solar water heaters—was performing. We also examined how the hospital’s unreliable electricity affects patient care. Rolling blackouts, aging solar batteries, and an old diesel generator can interrupt essential services, limit the use of medical equipment, disrupt surgeries and emergency treatment, and put vulnerable patients at risk. In a hospital, dependable power is not a convenience—it is critical to safe, continuous care and can mean the difference between life and death. Despite these difficult conditions, the dedicated doctors, nurses, technicians, and support staff continue to serve their community with courage, compassion, and determination. Their commitment helps keep hope alive, even when resources are limited and the challenges are immense.
