Chania (Greek Χανιά) is a historic and picturesque city on the northwest coast of the Greek island of Crete, known for its Venetian harbor, narrow streets, and rich history. As a city, port, and municipality with approximately 55,000 inhabitants, it is the second most populous city on Crete, after Heraklion. Situated on the island's northwest coast and surrounded by the Lefka Ori mountain range, the city boasts a scenic, panoramic setting. Historically, Chania served as the capital of Crete until 1972, and it is home to an international airport, ensuring easy accessibility for tourists. Old town is one of the most popular holiday resorts in Crete. After dark, Chania Old Town and Eleftherios Venizelos Square comes alive and the resort is considered one of the busiest on the island.
