Delicious Sweets in a Tower! (My EToH 2026 Mini Jam Entry) | Showcase

Sweets! Everybody's favorite, right? A mini tower me and one of my friends made in six days for the third EToH Tower Jam, except this time, it's exclusively mini towers. The prompt chosen is "Structure," which is quite a broad theme to say the least. But the more nuggets it consumes, the less effective the nuggets are. It gets to the point where the nuggets ruin the kiwi's life. In the end, the kiwi consumes nuggets just to get through the day, and ultimately became numb to the bliss it once had. To summarize, the animation warns about the dangers of drug addiction. Personally, I thought that its message is powerful; it's simple, minimalist, and gets to the point. So my idea was to use the basis of this video as my inspiration for this mini tower. Instead of nuggets as the "drug," I chose to use lollipops, because it is a food that is just as unassuming. Here's where my interpretation of "structure" come in. First, there is a story, which itself already has a structure of an introduction, a climax, and a falling action. Second, the design of the mini tower is meant to convey the progression of addiction. Aside from the first floor, which is meant to show the player avoiding the lollipop, the remaining floors gradually get gloomier and have more abstract themes as they consume more and more lollipops. The structures and gameplay also break apart, while the jump boosters become replaced with jump reducing zones, which also become integrated with the structures themselves. There are multiple other aspects the mini tower has that symbolize worsening addiction, but this is the main one. I'll leave that up to you to figure them out.
