Madison Scouts 1988 Malagueña Cover

A brass quintet arrangement of the Madison Scouts DCI Championship Performance of Malagueña. Recorded on Piston/Rotor G Bugles 2x Soprano French Horn/Mellophone Baritone Contrabass My videos always surpass my expectations in the time commitment category, but I really did enjoy the process of transcribing the parts, recording the audio, and capturing the full experience of their performance through the on-screen video of their semi-final & final runs. Through this project, I also learned a ton about DCI history and am excited to stay up to date on DCI in the future. I'm performing on G Bugles, with Piston/Rotor setups, used in the 60's & 70's before gradually being replaced by 2-valve instruments like the Scouts have in this video. My experience: They're really annoying. The recording likely took 3 times as long to get the faster sections clean, but it was a great challenge and certainly stretched my musical talents and history knowledge. While I never marched Scouts, they are my favorite corps and I was lucky enough to attend a few winter camps in 2019.
