Losing a Suitcase

The plaintiff says she hired the defendant to drive her home after a 35-hour flight from the Philippines. She claims he forgot to latch his trunk, and one of her bags flew out onto the road somewhere. They retraced their steps with no luck finding it, so she’s suing for the value of the items lost. The defendant says the plaintiff is sneaky and can’t be trusted. He alleges she brought all the bags in and then lied that one was missing. Case: 25-110
