An elevator video that turned into a First Amendment Audit in Newport News City Hall

(June 2023) What started out as just an elevator in a boring city hall with modded elevators turned into a first amendment audit. As we got off after the first trip, security asked if they could help us. Aaron and I both are very familiar with our first amendment rights in a publicly owned place and once Aaron asserted what we were doing the guards backed down however still gave us incorrect information. We basically were told we could only film the elevators but nothing on the floors. That is totally incorrect. Your 1st Amendment rights apply ANYWHERE in the building that is OPEN to the PUBLIC.
