In this Smiley Parawing Tips video, I break down two ways to ride with the parawing collapsed once you’re on the swell.
First, I look at the simplest method for early rides, running your hands up the centre lines, collapsing the wing, holding it close to the leading edge in one hand, and keeping the bar in the other. It’s a great way to start because there’s less going on, and it makes the relaunch more straight forward.
Then I look at a tidier second method, where you bunch the parawing into a neat little package that’s easier to hold in one hand while you ride. This leads nicely into the next stage of learning, where you begin to manage and pack the wing away in your stash belt.
I also talk through some of the little details that matter, like staying focused on the swell, keeping control of the board and foil, and avoiding tangles before the relaunch.
If you’re learning to ride swell with the parawing collapsed, let me know in the comments which method feels best to you.
