They Bought 56 Half-Wild Turkeys—Everyone Laughed Until the Cornworms Reached Their Farms

They laughed when Silas Boone spent his precious savings on 56 half-wild turkeys. To his neighbors, the unruly birds looked like a desperate farmer’s foolish mistake. But his daughter Nora began keeping careful records—and discovered something no one else in Red Willow had noticed. Then the cornworms came. As the infestation moved from farm to farm, destroying the harvest families depended on for winter, Silas’s strange flock suddenly became more valuable than anyone imagined. But saving his own corn was only the beginning. Soon, the same neighbors who mocked him were standing at his gate asking for help. A moving frontier story about courage, observation, forgiveness, and opening the gate when others need you most.
