Why Delta of Venus Meant So Much to Davis -- Thanks, Lee!

Delta of Venus served Davis for more than three decades as a cafe, restaurant, music venue, art space, and genuine third place. In this video, Dr. Andy celebrates the retiring proprietor, Lee, and the welcoming community he cultivated at 122 B Street. Dr. Andy remembers Sunday jazz performances with his son Jukie, student art exhibitions, Poetry Night after-party gatherings, affordable vegetarian food, and the friendships that grew among students, professors, artists, musicians, retirees, and other Davis residents. Delta of Venus brought town and gown together while creating a welcoming space for people from many backgrounds. Lee’s legacy extends beyond the restaurant itself. Through years of generosity, hospitality, artistic advocacy, and community service, he helped strangers become acquaintances and acquaintances become friends.
