Rolux Reel Mower - Backlapping Process

Rolux Reel Mower Backlapping Procedure Purpose To correctly perform the backlapping process on a Rolux reel mower cutting unit to restore the cutting relationship between the reel blades and bedknife following normal service wear. Backlapping uses a controlled abrasive compound while the reel is rotated in the reverse direction. This allows minor high spots and irregularities on the mating cutting surfaces to be corrected and helps restore an even cutting relationship across the width of the cutting unit. This procedure covers preparation, cutting-unit inspection, backlapping setup, application of lapping compound, controlled reverse reel rotation, inspection of the resulting contact surfaces, cleaning, final reel-to-bedknife adjustment, and paper-cut verification.
