Zeitz MOCAA presents Afflict the Comfortable, Comfort the Afflicted

Afflict the Comfortable, Comfort the Afflicted is a survey exhibition by Los Angeles–based artist Cauleen Smith. In her first major presentation on the continent, sequential screens, and expanded installations enwrap visitors in her world-building projects, where short films and videos interact with drawings, sculpted objects, colourful textile banners and the sonic. Curated by Thato Mogotsi, the exhibition opened on Thursday, 20 November 2025 on Level 3 Silo Side of the museum and runs until Sunday, 4 October 2026. This video explores the thought-provoking exhibition "Afflict the Comfortable, Comfort the Afflicted" by Los Angeles-based artist Cauleen Smith at Zeitz MOCAA.
