It's a momentum oscillator that double-smooths the price change, which means it filters out far more noise than a regular momentum indicator, and it works especially well once you bring it onto a Point & Figure chart. In this video, we cover what TSI actually is, how it's calculated, and how to plot it on PNF charts. Then we get into the real insight: when price is trading above your trend filter, and TSI gives a bullish crossover, the Double Top Buy pattern on PNF becomes a much higher probability setup. And when TSI gives a bearish crossover inside that same uptrend, it usually doesn't mean the trend is over. It often means the stock is moving into consolidation, sometimes forming a triangle or a turtle bearish pattern that eventually turns into a trap setup,with the next bullish crossover giving you a clean re-entry.
