Tarisland - Music by Russell Brower

This is the music for the MMORPG, Tarisland, composed by Russell Brower. FYI, I think that only the first 37 minutes are actually composed by Russell. The rest at the end of the video is probably composed by someone else. From what I can tell, Russell just composed music for the main zones in the game. They come in the "H, A, B, C, etc." style that Russell popularized with his WoW themes. They also sound the most like his composing style. Everything else is either stock music or made by some unknown composer. They're fairly short 1-minute loops that only play in specific places. Man... you won't believe how much of a pain it was to get all this music. Normally I extract music from the game files, like for WoW, but the game files in this game are all encrypted. So I basically had no choice but to just sit around and manually record all this music in-game. Hours and hours of just sitting around, recording this music and editing it... Because most of the music in this video is manually recorded by me, there's probably some music that I missed in parts of the game that I haven't seen. But personally, I'm alright with that. I mainly just wanted to focus on getting the music by Russell Brower, and anything I'm missing is probably just more of those short loops in random places. I am literally the only person in the world insane enough to go to these efforts just to get the music for some obscure MMORPG... Anyway, yeah, I would say that the music composed by Russell is pretty alright. Not his best work in my opinion, but it's unmistakably his style. And there's some bits here and there I like. I still do miss his more melancholic composing style heard in a lot of his WoW themes, which these themes mostly don't really capture. I would say the closest to that would be his music from Arena of Valor:    • Beautiful Part from "The Battle of Volkath...   My favorite theme here is the "Ancash Canyon" theme. I like to think of it as Russell's take on what the music in Mulgore or Thunder Bluff would sound like if he composed it. That simple melody really works for me, alongside those tribal drums and chimes. "Ancash Canyon D" at 8:43 also sounds like one of Russell Brower's older tracks from Burning Crusade or Cataclysm, where he would slow down and lower the pitch on the string layer. Out of all the themes, the "Scardino Icefield" theme sounds the most "Russell Brower" to me. I'm not sure why, just how the brass, strings, and woodwind are used sound kind of like something he would have composed from Legion. For some reason, this is the only Russell Brower theme not included in the official soundtrack for Tarisland. Not sure why that it is. You can even hear "Scardino Icefield C" in the "Tarisland Nightfall" song, but not as its own stand-alone song like the other themes. By the way, this isn't the first time Russell has composed for a WoW-adjacent mmorpg. He also composed music for "World of Kings" which you can find here:    • World of Kings - Music by Russell Brower &...   Although, I think for that one he only composed the main theme, "Path of Eternity". Everything else is most likely composed by someone else. Part of me wonders if Russell Brower misses composing for WoW, and this is his way of returning to that same composing space... Well, either way, I'm just glad to hear more music from the guy.
