Dawless, live set, Roland TR8, Elektron m:c, Behringer model D, TD-03 (303 clone), Roland Juno 06a, Maschine and Traktor with several midi controllers. It's a classical deep house project with a funky attitude:)....or a French House? Everything was performed and recorded 100% live, hence many imperfections here and there.... The goal was to make something uplifting, up-tempo, happy and in major harmony:) All samples and loops (there are few) were taken from Traktor. Live looped on the Maschine (quite a quirky audio setup to do so....) and saved, so during performance, the loops were just muted on/off. Roland TR8 was doing overtime:), heavy programming incl. congos, shakers, and additional snare from the noise (Roland 606?) Juno can be heard in the background, modulated deep synth playing a low chord. Model D, had a very basic, and deep sounding bass line, accidentally I got a sound similar to 909 Toms, and made a 'response' bass line. The 'call' line came out from the sample/loop. Elektron cycles this time, only as additional drum machine, with 16th notes hihats, claps and snares. Td3/303 - off work this time. NI Maschine - first connected audio to Traktor via Blue Cat's Connector plugin. Using Traktor to play some tunes and literally grab 2 or 4 bars loops live when playing my instruments, and trying to catch something interesting. It did work very well though! To that extent, it was difficult for me to stop adding another sample/loop:) The music was just making itself...better than AI, for sure. The performance is certainly too long, should be 8 min top, even considering it's a dancefloor tune, with aim to be played by a DJ, so it's better to have intro/outro, but still it's too long and loses the impact of being interesting. Anyway to do radio edit wouldn't be an issue. I must admit that to play live house tune (with more changes, bridges, drops and build ups) is more difficult than just go with the flow and live-jam with sequences as long as you feel fit... House song is more radio oriented, shorter, more impact with drops&breaks. Kinda tricky to do all this with just 2 hands:) Finally I am happy with how it came out, many small mistakes everywhere (especially arrangement-wise), but it keeps the spirit of uplifting, very dance oriented song, with quite catchy chorus/main theme.
