Border battle: Ripon boys top Laconia 51-48

The Ripon High School boys' basketball team and the No. 4 ranked Laconia Spartans met Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2014 in a pivotal non-conference contest at Laconia Hight School. The Tigers (10-2 overall) held on to win the game 51-48, handing the Spartans (14-1 overall) their first loss of the season. Ben Vander Plas led Ripon in scoring with 14 points, while Luke Loewe, Riley Haas and Sam Vander Plas chipped in with 11, nine and eight points, respectively. Laconia was led in scoring by Nick Vollmer and Zach Bartz, who each scored 17. Brett Wittchow added nine points in the losing effort for the Spartans.
