In the 19th century, "Intermezzo" was an independent instrumental composition in the cycles of Brahms. 116, 117, 118, 119, as well as intermezzo for 24 string instruments, Polish composer Penderecki. Six Pieces for Piano op. 118 by Brahms were completed in 1893 and are dedicated to pianist Clara Schumann. The pieces are the penultimate work for piano solo, published through the composer's lifetime. Close to the lyrical and philosophical songs of the later works of Brahms, the intermezzo is introspective, revealing the personal experiences of the composer. The four Intermezzo, the heroic Ballad, the light Romance, sound like "lyrical monologues", imbued with the melody laconicism of the composition. Intermezzo in A Minor 00:04, A Major 2:04, F Minor 15:34, E Flat Minor 24:48 displays a dynamic bass line of the left hand with a wide interval arrangement and flowing melodies-themes of the right hand, which combines short and long vocal line. Intermezzo is filled with polymelodic and polyrhythmic texture with special choral chord episodes. The ballad in G Minor 8:28 is fast and dynamic built with a chord texture accompanied by bass octaves. The growing tension of the ballad is embodied in the chord texture. The middle of the piece combines a melody in third-sixth intervals and cascades of chordal consonances. The romance, written in size 6/4, involves a long melodic line with a graceful middle part alla breve, in which the duration from the duols through the triols to the quartols is a thickening of the texture.
