Firefighters Battle 3-Acre Vegetation Fire on Bethel Island

At around 8:00 pm Sunday, the East Contra Costa Fire Protection District firefighters were dispatched to a report of a vegetation fire on Dutch Slough Road on Bethel Island. While responding, they observed heavy black smoke coming from the area and located the fire at Dutch Slough at Wells Road with heavy brush on fire, slow spread and no structures were threatened. CALIFRE and Contra Costa County Fire Protection District also responded to the incident to assist in this incident. CHP also was on scene for traffic control.
