New patch, new track: COLLID. Named after Joranalogue’s Collide — that collaboration with Hainbach that feels like you’re not just patching sound, but colliding systems. Kept the beat deliberately minimal: kick + clap, but unstable. Slightly human, slightly broken. Hats from the Patching Panda Hi-Hat into the Shakmat Archers Rig, giving it that crisp-but-shifting texture. Underneath: chaos. Heavily modulated noise from the Binome (Sovage Engineering) and Zlob’s Trepanator. It’s not just noise — it’s sculpted instability. Everything breathes through Pamela: a simple 4-step pattern stretched into 16, but governed by probability. And that probability? Modulated. So the system pulses between density and absence — bursts of activity that dissolve into space, then reassemble. I love that tension. It creates air. Bass follows the rhythm but resists it. Noise Engineering Incus — probably my favorite Alia firmware — morphing between sine and crushed square, compressed, physical. Lead is where it opens up: a bell-like, almost marimba tone. Clean signal + routed through Collide. Ring mod layers, separate envelopes, wide stereo movement. Push the FM and it drifts into Doppler-like motion, then snaps into sharp digital edges. Alive. Leibniz feeds the Spectraphon, triggered by Ornament & Crime — sharp FM spikes hitting spectral processing. Controlled unpredictability. Then a 3-note structure via O&C’s Strum: so fast it blurs into one rhythmic object. Constant slow transposition underneath, like the ground shifting. All of it runs through Zlob F3DB — fixed filter bank pushed into feedback. Harmonic feedback. Reverb on top. That moment where tone turns into atmosphere… that’s the sweet spot. Two takes.
