I’ve been using these 2 new zooms on a multi day documentary shoot and In this video I will talk about my experience with these lenses what I like and don’t like about them and finally whether or not I would recommend them. My friend Clement Hodgkinson had a documentary project about bearded vultures in the Alps and he asked me if I wanted to get involved shooting the main BTS content as well as capturing some of the landscapes and environment and if possible of course, the actual birds. We spent several days in the mountains, hiking for hours, scanning the sky for hours and shooting in all sorts of conditions from blasting sun, to windy overcast days, in the rain, as well as sunrise and in bright daylight. This is was a great way to test and use the Arles zooms as it was a genuine project where we had to be ready to shoot at any given moment so it made sense to use zoom lenses even more. When I first received the zooms I also used them briefly at home when we had friends renovating part of our house. This was also a good test for me as I often shoot documentaries about craft. Those shots were done Open Gate. This video is also about how useful cine zooms can be and how they differ from prime lenses and standard zooms.
