SZA vid, we’re diving into some soulful classics with four absolute powerhouses: Marvin Gaye, Tami Terrell, Luther Vandross, & Cheryl Lynn. We kick things off with Marvin Gaye and Tami Terrell's wonderful duet, If This World Were Mine, released in 1967 and written by Gaye himself. Then, we jump 15 years later, where Luther remakes the Marvin & Tammi original. Vandross' production and arrangement is expertly done, where he opts for a richer and dreamier atmosphere - while being true to the spirit of the original. Then we roll right into Cheryl Lynn’s timeless disco anthem Got To Be Real, which never fails to light up a room. It’s amazing hearing the original track which Luther & Cheryl took the task of evolving. You can really feel the each era’s joy and emotional depth in every note. This was such a feel-good watch for us.
