5 Best Liveaboard Sailboats Under $50,000 in 2026

5 Best Liveaboard Sailboats Under $50,000 in 2026 Here are the 5 best liveaboard sailboats under $50,000 in 2026, but the cheapest boat isn't always the best deal. The price on the listing is only the beginning. That money also has to cover the survey, the repairs, the insurance, and the slip, and the wrong boat can turn an affordable dream into an expensive mistake. This countdown looks at five used sailboats that can work as marina liveaboards and coastal cruisers: the Hunter 35.5 Legend, Catalina 36, Catalina 30, Catalina 34, and Pearson 365. We compare them on what matters when you actually live aboard: layout, headroom, water and fuel capacity, storage, age, used-market asking prices, and the repair risks that can hide behind the paneling. Along the way, you'll find out: • Which boat is the cheapest way to get aboard, and what you give up • Which one carries by far the most water • Which one has a private aft cabin, and a surveyor's warning to go with it • Which one looks like the obvious winner on paper, but comes with a catch • Which areas to inspect on an older boat, from chainplates and rudders to deck core and fuel tanks Every boat on this list has real trade-offs, and only one leaves you the most room in your budget to do the work right. Watch to the end to see which one wins. Prices mentioned are asking prices, not sale prices, and they vary with condition, location, and refit history. This guide is for anyone researching a liveaboard sailboat, comparing used sailboats on a budget, or planning to live aboard in a marina.
