Fairgrounds Square Mall 2021 (DEMOLISHED)

Fairgrounds Square Mall was the first "dead mall" I photographed and took video of in April of 2018, a few days before it closed. I've been back to the property twice since then...once in July 2020 around the mid-point of its demolition, and in April 2021 to see the final work being done to erase the last evidence that a mall was ever there. The remaining anchor stores Boscov's, Burlington, AMC, and the relocated junior anchor of Baja Beach Tan have been disconnected and given exterior walls where the mall used to attach. The small corridor containing Super Shoes and Quest Diagnostics is the only remaining place you can see the 8-pointed 'star' tiled floor of the original mall. I was told by someone I spoke to there that currently, there are no plans to redevelop the land, but I'd be certain it does have an eventual future in mixed retail and possible residential.
