What if you don't need to have your entire career figured out—you just need to be bold enough to ask? In this talk for NC State's ELEVATE Mentorship Program, I share my unconventional career journey, from moving to the U.S. and navigating education, finances, and visa challenges, to asking strangers for a graduate assistantship and creating an unexpected opportunity that led to a career change. My biggest lessons: be curious, build relationships, don't wait for permission, and don't be afraid to ask. Your career doesn't have to follow a traditional path.
