Two cars, nearly 50 years apart, but two letters that connect them - RS. For Škoda, RS stands for Rally Sport and the story began in 1974 with the 180 RS and 200 RS rally prototypes. The legendary 130 RS followed in 1975, while the Octavia RS arrived much later, in 2000.
Now, we take the latest and most powerful Škoda Octavia RS to the Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida to see what all those RS letters mean on a proper racetrack. The latest Octavia RS gets a 2.0-litre TSI engine producing 261 hp and 370 Nm, paired with a 7-speed gearbox and front-wheel drive. It can do 0-100 km/h in 6.4 seconds and has a top speed of 250 km/h.
From the old-school 200 RS to the modern Octavia RS, this is a story of how Škoda's racing DNA has evolved.
